Filling empty spaces

Hi everyone, it's seems like a lifetime ago since i last did a post. Life has been so busy these past few months. We moved into our new home 6 months ago, and i am still moving things and changing things that i am not happy with. The area where our dining table was just wasnt working, so i have decided to sell the old table and i went in search of a new smaller one. I found this round table at the local recycle centre for $15 what a bargain! I am still looking for new chairs to go with it, so until then i have sat the old chairs around it. The area where the old table was looked very bare and i do have plans to put a sideboard there when i find the right one. So yesterday i gathered some things from around the house and filled the empty space. So i've also taken a shot of that. So now life is slowly settling down and hopefully i will have more time to do more posts and catch up on all the beautiful blogs i have missed out on. Until next time, take care. Cindy

New Beginnings

Hi everyone, well we moved into our new house a few weeks ago, and last night after hanging pictures and moving furniture around i decided to take a few pics, so here they are.

Instead of big mirror over vanity, we thought we would give these two smaller ones a go, and i quite like them. So they will stay for a while.

I bought this shelf about a year and a half ago from Lucinda at Hume Cottage and its been sitting in the box since then waiting for our new house, so here it is, just love it.

Been Gone Too Long

Hello all, i've finally found time to sit down and do a post. The past few months have been pretty hectic with the shop and building a new house, so i have only had time to log in occassionally and check out other gorgeous blogs for a few minutes or so. So today being my day off, i decided to do a little shopping and take a couple of photo's so i could relax tonight and do a post. So here are a couple of pictures of some goodies i found today, The first is a soft green basket and three tiny little bottles i found at a local antique shop. I think they're so cute.

The next is a gorgeous gift basket i picked up from my friend Lucinda's shop Hume Cottage in Mittagong, pop on over to her blog http://www.humecottage.blogspot.com/ and see what else she has in her shop.

Also thought i would show you some poms poms i made for my shop recently.

Hi ladies, hope you are all enjoying your week, and finding lots of treasures along the way. Thought i would take a minute and show you a desk i bought from a local lady who does a wonderful job giving new life to old furniture, this piece use to be a dressing table, now it will be my new desk in my new house. I just love it! Using it as a display table in the shop until the house is built, should be started any day now.

EXCITING NEW SHOP

Hi Ladies, I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS. I haven't posted for quite some time because i've been busy opening my new shop in a small town in NSW called Robertson, in the southern highlands. Misty Memories is the name. My husband thinks it sounds like a retirement village, but i know he's only joking....lol. It's a gift and homewares shop located in the main street opposite the BIG potato. It still needs a few wrinkles ironed out, but overall things are falling into place just nicely. I need to get better at taking photo's, and i'm waiting for some new stock to arrive before i take anymore shots, but thought i would show you a few i have taken recently. We stock homewares including shabby chic, vintage finds, quilts (arriving soon) and general gifts. I have been blessed with quite a large store, so there is plenty of room out the back for my crafting and painting of furniture. Hi guys, well as mentioned my husband, daughter and I went to Queensland for a week and caught up with a few old friends. Below are some photo's i took at my friend Cheryl's house in Hervey Bay. A few shots of our stall today at our local Easter Fair. What a great turnout. It was a very busy day. The rain held out right until the end, then it was only a few sprinkles. All my girls turned up and spurred me on. Thanks Kaleigh, Courtney and Kodi-Lee. Our dear friends Julie and Tony made the trip down from Sydney. It was a great day for everyone. Re-Vamped Stools

It's a rainy day here on the highlands, so not much else to do but craft. I finished these two last night, a vanity stool and chair. I had intentions of selling them at my next market, and i am so pleased with how they turned out, that, i have decided they are not leaving my house. What do you think? We recently bought our 10 year old daughter a Queen Ann dressing table, which has to be repainted yet, but i think the stool will look great with that. The light is not real good for taking photo's today, but they are the best they will be. Have a great week all.

Fair Flop!

Hi all, well here it is half way through another week, doesn't time just fly. i think the older you get, the faster it goes. Nothing much exciting in my week, just been catching up on the household cleaning after spending the past couple of weeks painting and crafting, getting ready for the Fair we did last Sunday. Things didn't go as according to plan for the organisers and the numbers were really down, so all us stallholders had a very quite and unprofitable day. Although, it was another lesson learnt, and we did meet some lovely people, so not all was lost. Thought i would show you a few shots i took after we set up. I hope you're all having a great week.

Birdhouses!!!!! and THAT DENTIST VISIT... Grrrrh!

Hi all, well i'm here to talk about it, so it mustn't have been that bad! I survived the visit to the dentist. Mind you, he only had a look and didn't do anything so that was alright. That comes later. But, that word, SEDATION, was like music to my ears. Although, i have to have another visit in a couple of weeks, but thats only to talk too, so i'm sure i will get throught that one as well. I won't tell you though how my husband had to speak to the dentist for me, because the tears wouldn't stop, nor the uncontrollable shaking and that i couldn't get my mouth open to speak. But after a few minutes of the Dentist telling me that we were "only going to talk today", then i settled down. Bring on the SEDATION. My favourite word.
I also wanted to show you some birdhouses my husband made for an upcoming market we are doing at a local Fair this weekend. Some before and after shots.

DREADED DENTIST - HELP!!!!!!

Hi ladies, the time has come....MY BIGGEST FEAR IN LIFE ...the Dentist is calling. Please some-one save me!
My husband made the dreaded call today to the dentist. I have to find the courage between now and Friday to walk through those doors. I'm not sure how i'm going to do it yet,but i'm sure i will find a thousand different excuses not to go. I have a phobia for the dentist. I would rather have 4 more children than lay back in that chair. Am i the only chicken out there? Just the thought of it brings me to tears. I've cried so many tears in the past few weeks just thinking about it, but another health issue has forced me to get it over and done with. Anyone have any good recipes for drinking through a straw? I would appreciate them. Anyway, there you have it, i have finally written the words, hoping this will psych me up. I've waffled on enough. I hope you all have a good week, i will be trying to check out as many beautiful blogs as i can to take my mind off it. Have a good one.

Hi Ladies, just a short note to say hi to you all. I haven't done a post in a while, time just gets away. We were going to do markets this Sunday with all our Shabby items, but have now decided instead of having Treasure we are going to sell Trash. Having a big clean out around the house, so it will be another busy week getting it all together. At least i won't be painting furniture the night before the markets while my hubby is trying to pack the trailer. Just old pre - loved things, clothes, books etc. I will probably be amazed at what i find while i clean out cupboards and the garage. Anyway, here are a few pieces i picked up in the past couple of weeks.

Hi Ladies, the weekend is nearly over, just a few more hours to relax before another week begins. I've had a busy week with visitors and this weekend garage saleing and today my youngest daughter Kodi and I went to the flea markets. I can't wait to get my hands on the paint and get stuck into all my latest finds. Love the dresser. A new lick of white paint and some crystal handles, What do you think? Didn't we have fun trying to cart all of this back to the car. Kodi is only 10, so it was a few steps, then have a rest.....you know how it goes. But, we got there eventually. It was a good day. Garage Sale Find!

Hi all, thought i would sit down and relax after a very HOT day at the markets today and check all your lovely blogs. We even resorted to sitting there with our feet in a bucket of cold water to try and cool down. What a difference that made. It was a quiet market day, i think the heat kept people at home, but i'm sure next time will be better. We are looking into doing more markets in and around our area. Yesterday my youngest daughter Kodi-Lee and i went to a few garage sales and although we didn't find alot of treasures, i did find this gorgeous small vase. The lustre on it is just beautiful, i couldn't pick it up quick enough. I just love it. Also, this stool we repainted and recovered was sold today at the market. Deep down i was hoping it wouldn't sell, because then it would have made its way into our bedroom. Ooops! But someone else has the pleasure of having it. I hope they enjoy it.

Hi everyone, well another week gone by, and never enough time to do all the things we wish we could have done. Although, today i managed to have a small production line running. It's nearly 11.30pm here and i've jut sat down, so I thought i would show you what i made. I have another market on Sunday, and supplies were low after the market we did last weekend, so i had to get busy. Hi everyone, well New years has come and gone and we're back to the grindstone. Yesterday we decided to do a new market at Moss Vale Showground. When we got out of bed and went outside it looked pretty gloomy, but we (my hubby) and I thought it was only fog and would probably lift early morning, as it was only 6 am at the time. So off we went, trailer packed and car so full was only enough sitting room for him, our daughter Kodi-Lee and myself with things packed on our laps. We finally got set up and the mist started rolling in, then next thing you know the rain started. The fog wasn't lifting at all. So suffice to say it was a pretty wet, miserable day out. But as the day drew on, quite a few people had decided to brave the weather and wander out. As i was sitting there watching the people wander around i spotted Sarah from Shabby Roses & Pretty Things. It was lovely to meet you Sarah, and i hope you enjoy the plates. I've been following Sarah for a short while now, and new she lived in the area, so it was a lovely surprise. So despite the weather, it was a very successful day at the markets in more ways than one. I will have to post some pics of some new items i made.

MT WARRIGAL CHRISTMAS LIGHTS TO LIGHT UP YOUR HEART

Hi everyone, well i have just been reading over and over again how busy everyone is at this time of year, and i think we're all in the same boat. We had a busy weekend starting on Friday night. I took two of my girls, aged 10 and 23 to Carols by Candlelight at Shellharbour. It was just a beautiful night, with some really great singers, lots of candles and full of holiday spirit. After the Carols had finished we decided to go and see if a home i had taken them to for years when they were young, were still doing their Christmas lights, and as luck would have it, they did. You see, we have only recently moved back from another state, so we hadn't been there for 5 years. When we drove around the corner, i thought my 23 yr old was going to cry. Alot of her childhood was spent looking at these lights, it is like we went back in time. Every year the kids and i would drive the streets at night , with the Christmas CD playing in the car, looking at all the beautiful displays people had gone to so much trouble to put together, and at least 2 or 3 times a week we would go to this particular house. It is like a fairy land. The music is playing, there are christmas movies projected onto the garage doors, lights are twinkling amongst the flowers, everywhere you look in the garden something different is happening. It is the nicest display we have ever seen. I would urge anyone living in the Illawarra or close to it, to go to Mt Warrigal and see these lights. They are a dream. Here is a picture of them from the other side of the road, but the photo really doesn't do it justice.

Hi, finally today we unloaded a few of the decorations, didn't realise we had so many. I know i'm a bit behind, but i'm getting there slowly. Just took a couple of shots before it got dark. Will need to tinker a bit more tomorrow and get things in their proper place.

As i mentioned in my previous post, i have been getting ready for my market stall on Sunday, but with so many things, i am having trouble trying to pack things into boxes without damaging anything. And, i still have some furniture to paint before then. So i guess it is a busy time for everyone. Have a great week. What's left of it.

Hi all, what a busy time of year. So much going on in our lives, just as it is in yours i'm sure. Christmas is just around the corner, and still a few more pressies to buy. Nearly there. We have decided to spend Christmas day at the beach this year, with fishing rods and picnic basket, i'm sure it will be a nice relaxing day. Just what the doctor ordered.. Let's just hope it's not raining Christmas day. Then we will have to go to plan C, because i'm not sure what plan B is yet! We got all the decorations out of the garage tonight, so hopefully tomorrow we will have the tree up and the decorating will be in full swing. I know, we're a little late, but we will catch up.

It's market day for us on Sunday. I have been busy pricing things and packing them ready to pack in the trailer. Will try and take lots of pictures this time. I seem to get carried away setting things up when i get there, then the customers start rolling in and before you know it, the day is over, and i have forgotten to take some pics. But i will try harder this time. I wanted to show you some cute little dishes i got at a flea market recently. Just love the pink one. Also, this cute pink handbag and gloves.

And also, i just wanted to say thank you for all the Christmas decorating inspiration out there. There are soo many beautiful blogs with all their Christmas fare, it's hard to turn the computer off and go to sleep. Until next time.

Weekend Treasures

Hi everyone, what a busy weekend it has been. Garage saleing Saturday morning, homewares party Saturday afternoon, and today Market Shopping. I didn't do very good at the garage sales this weekend and put it down to just a bad weekend. But when my husband suggested we go down the coast today to an old market, things changed.

We arrived late about 11.15am, the market finishes at 12 noon, it was scorching hot and dusty. We were running around so fast trying to see what we could find while market holders were packing up, but as it turned out we did find a few goodies. Now i think, imagine what i would have found had we have been there at 7am?

I came across this gorgeous timber plain white trunk, or treasure chest as my daughter Kodi-Lee calls it. I have plans to revamp it a little, will show you follow up photo's when it's done.

I also found a beautiful ceramic pink popcorn canister, a gorgeous pink Meakin bowl, a lovely white cake stand, a timber floor lamp base, which will be painted white at some stage, a white round tablecloth, and a soft blue doilie. So as you can see, a very successful weekend after all.

Hi everyone, don't you just feel the pressure is off on Fridays. Looking forward to a great relaxing weekend with family and friends. Still learning about Links. Anyway a couple of pics i took today. One is a box i bought from a market a couple of months ago. The lady who painted the box use to own a shop, however now she only does the markets, which is a shame, because her work is beautiful.

Monday Finds..

Hi girls, first i have to tell you the markets went ahead, the sun shone for maybe 5 minutes - maybe a bit longer, but what a successful day. Robertson, where the markets are held are on the edge of a mountain, looking down over the Illawarra and Ocean. It is famous for the Robertson FOG, and didn't it hold up to its reputation. It rolled in as we were driving there at 7am and stayed most of the day. The air was moist, you couldn't see across the other side of the street at times, but it was beautiful. It felt like a winters day at times, in the middle of spring. We had a wonderful day, sold some beautiful treasures, and met some lovely people, so who could complain. As we drove out of Robertson back to the highlands, which is only 15 minutes away it was like we left one world and entered another. It was sunny and bright and nothing like we had experienced at the market. I will try and find some photos of the fog and post it for you all to see.
Today i called Monday Madness. I decided this morning to go Op Shopping to see if i could find some goodies, either for myself or my market stall, and did i find some treasures. Here are some pictures of what i gathered. Some nice rose plates, glass dishes and 2 gorgeous tableclothes. I also found a bunch of doilies that look a bit tired so i've decided to dye them PINK. Hi all, well looks like the rain has gone, so it's a mad Saturday night here getting ready to do the markets in the morning. I missed last month due to rain and up until lunchtime today i thought i would miss this one too, so i didn't bother rushing to get all my things together, but now it's 11pm here and i have just finished. I have started selling some of my goodies i make at Robertson markets in the Southern Highlands. I love making new things, and have lots of ideas, but like everyone else, not enough hours in the day. So keep your fingers crossed that the sun will shine in the morning, and this won't all be for nothing. So here are a few pics of things i got together tonight, don't know where i am gong to put them, the car is jammed packed. Reindeers have just been finished, i love the soft colours, but i should have done a pale blue, never mind, maybe next time. The mirror i picked up at a garage sale, it was gold and had a broken corner, so i did a little cosmetic surgery, added some flowers and pearls, and all gone. Anyway, early rise tomorrow, Have a great Sunday.

Hi everyone, well it's nearly that time time again...yep you guessed it. Christmas is not far away, so seeing as the weather was so cold and miserable today i decided to start on some Christmas things. Today it was wreaths. Made one for myself and one for a my friend Julie. Tomorrow it's reindeers day. Will show you pics of them when they are finished. Picked up a few bling looking napkin rings on my travels too. I just love them, you can never have too much bling.. So thought i would show you a few pics of the wreaths, my new desk and a few other things around the house. Hi all, well no markets today. Got out of bed and it was raining and miserable, so hubby and i decided to stay home, and what happened, the sun shone when it was too late to pack the car and go, and it shone all day. So we missed the markets today so i thought i would just post a few pics instead, and put a few items on ebay. Be back soon.

Hi everyone, tomorrow is my second market day at Robertson, that's if the rain holds out and the sun shines. It has been a busy couple of weeks getting ready, spent most of today with paint brush in hand and a tin of white paint, so hopefully it goes ahead. Thrifty Thursday

Well today i spent the day going from Op shop to Op shop (or Thrift shop as some may know it). Not much in the way of furniture but found some nice linens. Tomorrow is another day, and who knows what surprises are waiting for me. Although i am finding that these shops are not as thrifty as they once were, and have really hiked up their prices.
